Tamanguitos
Tamanguitos is the brain-child of Tamango, which inspires and guides budding musicians to provide joy and leadership through live tango to their peers wherever they go
To further the mission of promoting inter-generational tango, Tamango commissions original tango arrangements catered to young beginner instrumentalists (as young as four years old; as fresh as two-months-new on their instruments), and teaches them the unique tango style of performance. The sense of empowerment and the boost in self-esteem through making tangos themselves clearly benefit these young minds beyond the realm of live music and dance.
This pilot program requires patience. Members of Tamango work with the eager youngsters individually to compose a tango within their capabilities and the limitations of their instruments. Then, we guide them through the rehearsal process to put the music together. Finally, we present their work at a dance party at their schools, or at one of Tamango’s events, where their peers and parents are taught and invited to dance to the newest formation of Tamanguitos.
Current Tamanguitos: Sasha Luhur, violin; Linden Travers, violin; Rowan Travers, guitar; Sean Flood, guitar; Benjamin Flood, piano.
